Look what someone dropped off at the office today. I'm quite partial to skunks (from a distance) but I still wish we could get the message to leave baby animals alone in the wild across to the public. Still, they are SO CUTE!
I just think they are the cutest little things! I have heard they are much like cats if you have them as pets. Of course you will have to have them dissented first. I have yet to have a skunk LOL
Several years ago a Momma skunk left her litter on our door step. They were as adorable as could be!!! I believe Momma must have been hit by a car. These precious little ones would followed you all around the yard. (Even at their tender young age their cologne was apparent!) Our neighbor loaded up the gang and took them to a licensed wildlife facility. Happy ending to the story. :- D
I've heard skunks do make 'very nice pets'. Although here in Ohio, I've been told, it's illegal to own one.
Unfortunately, the most prevalent rabies vector second only to bats in the midwest. Not something I'd want to mess with!
Leaving baby animals in the wild is a hard message to get across to folks who think they are doing the animals a favor by "rescuing them"; still I suppose better we humans aren't heartless creatures but only not informed! :) Yesterday I had to deal with an "abandoned" fawn issue- the doe had left her fawn close to someones house and they hadn't seen her come or go, but all was well. Where do you work, Lisa, that people would drop skunks on you? The IRS? :)
