WHOA! More news from Running Briar

Got this message and photo this morning from Alex and her BFL ewe, Keryn. This is Keryn's 4th lambing for a total of 9 lambs! She singled as a yearling.

"Yes! Quads out of Somerhill Keryn! 2 solid black, 2 solid white. All nursed, we need advise! Unassisted in the night."

Quads! That's definitely a full load! Our BFL quads are doing great. One is supplemented with a bottle but nurses on mom along with the other three, but sometimes not as much. She's the smaller of the four and seems to get pushed out of the way. We just make sure that mom has lots of good hay and we give her grain once a day. Her quads are some of the best of the whole crop. I think as long as mom is fed and happy, quads will follow...but just keep a close eye on them and watch the progress.

Good Job Keryn. Those are nice size babies too. Good luck.

I called yesterday morning, and all the lambs are doing OK. They are penned separately from the other sheep, and have a heat lamp available. They are getting topped off with a bottle twice a day to make sure everyone is getting enough to eat. There is one black ewe lamb and the others are rams. The black ram is the strongest and most outgoing, and the ewe lamb is the smallest.
So far, things are going well, and I think everything is being done to make sure the lambs are healthy and grow well.
Keryn is very attentive to all four, and is protective of them. She wants to know where they are at all times, and if one is picked up, she wants to know who, what, where, when and WHY are you touching my baby!
